The cordon fell at 04:12. The power went at 04:30. You are on a North London street in Quarantine Zone QZ-07, and the infected already know where you are.

Horde Line is a first-person survival game. You move by dragging, you look by dragging, and nothing fires unless you hold FIRE. Your squad of four — Ade, Priya, Marek and Tess — follows you into shops and hotels and shoots anything hostile. Their kills count. Your bullets pass through them.

The city is a hundred and twenty blocks around a memorial square, with a ring road and a cordon you cannot drive through. Shops can be boarded up with planks. Six hotels — the Grand Northern, the Albany, the Midland, the Crown, Station Hotel and the Regent — have lobbies, furnished floors and roofs. The infected are already upstairs, and they follow you up the stairs. Shoot a window and the glass comes down. That is also a way in for them.

Raiders come in groups, and war parties grow to fifty. The Crows, the Tallymen and the Greys fight you, your squad, the infected and each other. Larger groups arrive in armoured pickups. Kill the driver or empty the truck and you can steal it. Cars, a van and a pickup are parked around the city.

An irradiated zombie is rare and easy to spot: it glows green. Body shots chip it. One direct headshot ends it.

Between waves you pick one upgrade and can change your main gun. Scrap from the run buys weapons in the Market. Every gun can be earned in play. A pistol on your hip never runs out of ammo.

What brings you back: levels and ranks from Volunteer to Legend, rifle finishes and torch colours, today's three orders, and a leaderboard. On iPhone that is Game Center. On Android it is Google Play Games. Your own best runs stay on the device.

When you die, the last seconds play back. You can share the clip. One rewarded ad can get you up again, once per run. You are never charged to keep playing.

Free to download. Optional rewarded ads, a one-off Remove ads purchase, and a scrap crate if you want to skip the grind. Paying does not make the guns stronger than the ones you can earn.
